Happy Birthday Aunt Julie!

That's right- today is my sister- Jules' birthday. Hudson and I hope you have a wonderful day Jules!

I was looking at the date from the last posting on the blog and it's been a while since I posted. I guess I've been busy! I did see Dr. Fuller last week and he said that everything looked good. Hudson measured just right, his heart rate was on target and there were no concerns overall. I asked him how much over the due date he would let me go and he said "I won't let you go over the due date and here's why..." Basically he told me that the placenta (which is what is feeding and providing bloodflow to Hudson) may be viable for a day past your "due date" or it might be good for 3 weeks but he doesn't like to chance it. So we will have a baby by May 6th-if Hudson hasn't come on his own by then we will be induced at that time. If things continue to progress as they have...more on that in a minute...then I will be more than ready at that point!

We got to have lunch on Saturday with our friends- David & Jennifer Lee- they are expecting in May also. They were doing well- they were in town for a shower/family reunion. Jay & I did some shopping afterwards on Saturday and we were amazed at how many pregnant women we saw. I deduced that it is because I am pregnant that this is standing out more- but there may be a lot of babies born in 2009?!

Yeah- my symptoms- or I guess I should say that I have some pregnancy symptoms now. They started last week. Last week and this week are my two weeks to round at the hospital and I usually get back to the office about noon- well- last week I was more than ready to sit down by the time I got back to the office. This week my calves and feet are really hurting and I feel bloated. I'm not getting around as easy as I have been to this point. I leave my shoes on till I change for bed- not because of swelling- because I need the support. It feels terrible to have my feet on the floor without support- weird huh?? I guess it is because the ligaments are relaxing- plus I am heavier now and all of that has to be taking a toll on my joints.

Earlier today I had an "episode" of nausea, flushing and just feeling uncomfortable. I laid down for a little while and that helped a lot. I'm getting to where I don't really feel hungry at all and I have to tell myself to eat something. Nothing really sounds good. BTW- we are 34 weeks this week.

Jay & I plan to paint and organize Hudson's room this weekend. I didn't finish saying what Jay & I shopped for on Saturday- but we were looking at dressers and bedroom furniture for Hudson's room. His crib is cherry colored so we were looking at things in that color. We think we've decided what we want to get. Walmart will let you ship to them if you order online and then you don't have to pay shipping and you just pick it up at the store. We'd found the dresser we wanted at Target but it wasn't available at any of the local stores and we were going to have to pay shipping so we decided to look at Walmart. Anyway- I think after the weekend we will have his room looking better. I've already washed all his little outfits so we've made some progress.

This Sunday will be Hudson's 2nd baby shower- Hudson already has a lot of people in his life that care about him! It will be our church group- hosted at Miss Heather's house. We sure appreciate everyone!

Speaking of the church family- our friends (soon to be big buddy of Hudson)- Rachel & Dennis are about to be parents. They are checking in to the hospital tonight and being induced- so Beau will come into the world sometime in the next 24 hrs! We can't wait to meet him!

Well- I guess that's my update. I'll work on getting some more tummy pictures online- Hudson is growing like a weed! Love ya'll!

Week 32: 5 weeks till term!

Did ya'll think I dropped off the face of the earth? Sorry- I wanted to write last week but it was crazy busy. Jay & I ended the week by going camping (at Woolly Hallow- great weather!) so I wasn't home for most of it and then there's the matter of the lost hour of sleep...

I also partially didn't write last week because I intended to get Hudson's daddy to take a picture of me- especially for you Cristi :)- so that ya'll could see my baby bump... but that hasn't materialized yet. Yesterday we were going to get the picture taken and again we forgot. Why it is that I remember when we are away from the camera I am not sure. I'll try to get it done tonight and post it tomorrow. Jay will be out of town for work till Thursday after that.

In explanation for anyone that is reading this and wondering about my title- "Week 32: 5 weeks till term"- At 37 weeks a fetus is considered term (mature, ready, that sort of thing). My understanding is that it is ok and probably better for him to stay till week 40, especially in the case of a white baby boy (from what I remember from nursing school)- however things are usually pretty safe if you deliver after the 37th week. I will be ready for him to come anytime by the time that gets here- which will be about mid-April. Even though I am not "really big" and have had a great pregnancy overall- I still feel fat and I am ready to get more active and meet my little man.

The thing I have really noticed is that I have not adjusted to my protruding abdomen very well- what I mean is that I forget or don't realize how much I am sticking out and have bumped into things a couple times, following that with "Sorry Hudson". Some of it may be clumsiness too- but it is just funny. I really notice it when Jay & I are both trying to get around the kitchen at the same time. Jay stands kinda far from the counter and I used to get around him no problem by "sucking in"- but I can't do that right now so it is more of a "squeezing by" which is usually followed by a "Goodness!" from Jay. He is cute. We are trying to spend more time in the kitchen with our new crockpot. We've fixed roast beef with veggies and cornish hens with potatoes in it so far.

Hudson's newest thing is pushing against anything that is pushing on him. I was reading in bed last week and the book was just lightly on my tummy and Hudson didn't like it at all- he kept pushing or kicking at it and the book was jumping. It was enough of a disturbance I had to readjust the book because I couldn't read it with it jumping like that. He also doesn't like it if I snug up to my desk because then my tummy is touching the desk- he pushes incessantly against it till I move. Sometimes I do it just to make him move- does that make me a mean momma?

We are currently on a two-week, or bi-monthly visit to Dr. Fuller. That will change at week 36 and we will go to weekly then. This coming weekend we have our childbirthing classes. We will be taking those at the hospital along with our pregnant friends- Dennis & Rachel. We are all looking forward to them even though they will take up the better part of the weekend. They will be on Saturday from 9am-1pm and then on Sunday from 1pm-5pm.

Oh- I will also try to get some pictures posted of our shower at Kelly's house from February. Hope everyone has a great week!
